Welcome
to Southern California
We live in a modest 80's rancher in the city of Oceanside,
California. As its name suggests, Oceanside
is located on the shores of the Pacific Coast and is in North
San Diego County in Southern California. As the name doesn't
suggest, the city had a rather modest beginning, catering
to the military in neighboring Camp Pendleton. Unfortunately,
the modest city with the rather glamorous name has yet to
grow into it's more optimistic namesake. But as Rodney says, "it's
all good."

a good source for getting maps and directions related to
our home at: 421 South Barnwell Street, Oceanside, CA, 92054.

map of towns around Oceanside
Freeways, Highways, Interstates
The I-5 (5 minutes from our house) runs through Oceanside
and is a direct link to downtown San Diego (approximately
a 45 minute drive) and Los Angeles (approximately a 1.5
- 2 hour drive).
The Coast Highway, or Highway 101, is a beautiful way to
see classic Southern California coastal towns. Though it
is not an efficient thoroughfare, it's a nice scenic drive
which spans from Oceanside to La Jolla (say La-HOYA) to the
south. You can also go north, beyond Camp Pendleton, to Los
Angeles and beyond.
Airports
The following airports are within a 2 hour drive of Oceanside.
SAN - San Diego International - 45 min.
LAX - Los Angeles International - 1.5-2 hr.
SNA - John Wayne Airport, Orange County - 1 hr.
CLD* - McClellan-Palomar Airport, Carlsbad - 20 min.
